Reading effectively and note-taking · Critical reading, writing and discussion · Essay structure and argument · Academic integrity and use of sources · Other essential aspects of academic writing (e.g., coherence, style and grammar) · Responding to feedback · Preparing for and participating in online and face-to-face discussions · Effective interpersonal and group work skills · Effective oral presentations · English language development

Other notes:

This unit is designed for students transitioning to university studies and therefore is ultimately completed in their first semester of academic studies. Attendance at seminars and workshops is highly encouraged and essential to success in the unit (10 x Seminar and 10 x Workshop). If you are unable to attend a class, you are expected  to contact the unit coordinator. Outside of the contact hours, you are expected to spend approximately 7 hours per week on self-directed study (including activities to improve communication skills, academic English , and working towards assignments).
