Additional information

Unit content:The Unit is intended to require a commitment of about 10 hours per week. This involves attendance at the lectures/presentations, working in the pilot plant and consultation with teaching staff, as well as additional time to cover course content, research on the topics, working on the project, writing reports and preparing presentations. These are average times spread out over the 15 week semester. It is in your interests to schedule your time commitments so that you do not run into time pressures just before submission dates, or at the end of the semester. This unit covers the following topics (through application to the Engineering Pilot Plant): Topic 1: · Review of process control system design Topic 2: · Multi-variable systems · Interaction analysis · Design and implementation of Decouplers Topic 3: · Research on several control performance indicators including control charts (statistical process control) Topic 4: · Design and implementation of Generic Model Control (GMC) Topic 5: · Design and implementation of Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC)
