Clinical Laboratory Science provides a foundation for a career in medical diagnosis or other health-related fields. The major builds on a general introduction to human biology, cell biology and human molecular genetics to cover a range of clinical laboratory disciplines including medical microbiology, haematology, immunology, histology and diagnostic genomics. Students will obtain a broad knowledge of disease processes as well as technical skills in the handling of patient material, clinical testing and the analysis and troubleshooting of results. The major provides extensive exposure to the underlying principles involved in the measurement of clinical parameters.
