Demonstrate a level of competence commensurate with the with the knowledge and experience of a

Demonstrate an understanding, apply and evaluate previously acquired communications techniques,
essential nursing skills and professional behaviours from a holistic care perspective. (MUGA

Use critical thinking and the nursing process to discuss, understand and apply law and ethics, quality
and safety, research and evidence based practice in within either a medical, surgical, mental health,

1. Pre- placement workshop 4 hours
• How to complete the Student Clinical e-Portfolio including; writing SMART objectives, completing time sheets, and making a reflective practice entry
• Explore and discuss the professional behaviours expected whilst on clinical placement
2. Pre-placement clinical simulation session (8 hours) including
• Medical
• Surgical
• Mental health
• Community health
• Paediatrics
• Maternity
• Operating theatre
• Complex care
3. 160 hours clinical practice completed in either a medical, surgical, mental health, community health,
paediatrics, maternity, operating theatre or complex care context
