Unit content:This unit is concerned with the design, specification, and implementation of a process control system, with emphasis upon the industrial computer system, including the following aspects: operator interfaces, historical trending, alarms, interlocks, safety, I/O cabling and wiring, software architecture, point configuration, real-time database startup and shutdown, simulation, testing commissioning and documentation. The unit will require students to implement practical solutions to industrial problems drawing upon their background in preceding units. The unit is delivered in a studio model where staff and students work together in groups in solving a range of engineering projects associated with the content of this unit.
