Learning outcomes

1.

Demonstrate the use of design research methodologies toward the creation of innovative game design mechanics and aesthetics. Recognise that Videogames and games art play an important part in the mediation of social and cultural communications and as such affects modes of representation and systems of meaning.

2.

Present information, articulating arguments and conclusions, in a variety of modes,to diverse audiences, and for a range of purposes.

3.

Research and apply a range of design decision making, problem solving and critical thinking methodologies for a specific purpose. Research, prototype and evaluate games in relation to specific purposes, audiences, contexts and underlying technologies. Adopt a range of techniques to appropriately project manage a Games Art and Design project.

Demonstrate the use of games related research, methods toward the creation of innovative games and interactive media solutions.

5.

Apply recognised Games Art and Design methods and techniques, tools and technologies and adapt these techniques when necessary. Demonstrate and apply the principles, concepts and strategies of Games Art and Design production techniques for a range of real world and research applications.

Respect the thoughts and opinions of others whilst working effectively within a team environment. Recognise that Games Art and Design is a discipline that impacts on, and is influenced by other disciplines in practice.

Take personal, professional and social responsibility by recognising the required ethical conduct and behaviour within the relevant sectors of the Games Art and Design industry.
