Enrolment rules

Enrolment in Bachelor of Nursing and NUR231 Complexities of Health and Illness Across the Lifespan 1. Completion of all Year 1 nursing units.
Students who have successfully completed NUR203 may not enrol in this unit for credit.

Learning outcomes

1.
Develop their understanding of the nursing competencies relating to the care of patients in the acute care setting.
2.
Identify, analyse and discuss legal and ethical issues relating to nursing practice in acute care settings.
3.
Discuss the nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care in a range of acute illnesses including cardiovascular, respiratory and neurological disease and mental illness across the life span.
4.
Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and nursing evidence based practice in a variety of acute care scenarios
5.
Apply the nursing process and critical thinking in acute care nursing.
6.
Develop essential nursing skills relevant to acute care settings that ensure safe, effective and evidence based nursing practice for patients across the lifespan whilst promoting a therapeutic nurse patient relationship
