Learning outcomes

1.

Demonstrate the capacity to perform a structured clinical history and physical examination of an adult, pregnant, and paediatric patient in a simulated laboratory environment.

2.

Develop a working diagnosis and prognosis for theoretical cases and design an appropriately structured management plan.

3.

Acquire a working knowledge of the clinical procedures and policies within Murdoch University Chiropractic Clinic including the electronic patient records management system

4.

Examine and explain cultural differences in patient management

5.

Demonstrate the capacity to communicate and interact with patients and clinicians competently.

Unit content:

The initial unit content is designed to introduce students to the clinical aspect of managing patients in a clinical environment. The unit begins by introducing students to a structured patient interview and clinical examination. This process is followed by an introduction to management plan writing and how to convey the clinical information in lay terms to patients. Next, students are introduced to the MUCC working structure preparing them to interact in this clinical environment. Finally, students are introduced to the electronic records management system.
